GENERAL INFO

The Half Marathon is expected to draw upwards of 5000 participants in a downhill, fast and scenic course from MLS to Queen's Park. This Toronto favorite continues to grow in popularity and is considered by many to be the best Half Marathon in Canada.

The Half Marathon begins behind Mel Lastman Square on Beecroft Ave. Participants run north to Ellerslie Ave, East to Yonge, and South on Yonge to Aylmer Ave.,(just south of the Rosedale Subway Station) and then turns left (east) towards Rosedale Valley Rd and Bayview Ave. At Bayview, it turns south to King St. At King, we turn west to Sumach, south on Sumach and then west on Eastern Ave. to Front St. Running through the historic St. Lawrence Market on Front St to Wellington St. North on University Ave to the finish at Queen's Park.

The Half Marathon Walk begins at the same time as the Half Marathon and follows the same course. Results will be posted separately from the Run. There are no awards for the Half Marathon Walk division.

Sorry, no in-line skates, roller-skates, bicycles, strollers or dogs will be allowed on the course.

For the safety of all participants, we strongly recommend you do not wear iPods, walkmans, or similar devices which inhibit your ability to hear surrounding sounds.

AID STATION & TIMING

Aid stations will be supplied with Cedar Springs Water and Gatorade. There will be 21 Aid Stations along the route each supported by medical personnel. PowerBar PowerGels will be available at the 25km and 36km aid stations for the marathon only. Split times will be called at the 1 mile mark. The course will be marked every kilometre, as well as every 5 miles.  All events will be timed using the ChampionChip timing system.

ChampionChip Race Timing was used for the first time in 1999! Read all about " the Chip " and how it will be used. Note: The Chip and instructions will be included with your race kit at registration. The Chip must be returned immediately following the race at Queen's Park at the end of the chutes. You must remove your chip immediately after you cross the finish line. You will not receive a medal until your chip is returned. If you do not finish or do not race but have picked up your kit, please return the chip to Sportstats or phone (613) 723-0994.

RACE KIT
  • Kit Includes: bib, shirt, race day information, Chip, sponsor samples, and promotion materials
  • Pickup Location: Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel, 123 Queen Street West.
  • Pickup Dates: Friday Oct. 17 and Saturday Oct.18
  • Pickup Times: Friday 10 a.m. - 7 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Kits will not be mailed. Anyone can pick-up your kit at the expo. They may be asked for identification and your confirmation number (if you registered online).

Only participants traveling from out of town (for the Marathon and Half Marathon only), may pick-up their bib and chip (no shirts) at Mel Lastman Square from 7:15 am on Race day. Please arrive early, as you want to make sure to get your chip and bib before the Gun goes off.

EXPO

The GoodLife Fitness Toronto Marathon Expo is FREE and open to the public during registration/kit pick-up at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel, 123 Queen Street West. ALL participants, including RELAY TEAMS must attend the expo to pick-up their Race Kits which include a shirt, bib, chip, final instructions, and product samples from our sponsors. The hours are:

Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

BRUNELLO CARBO DINNER

 

All competitors are invited to our pasta dinner / runners' workshop on Saturday, October 18th, 6 p.m. at the Toronto Hilton located at 145 Richmond Street West. Cost is $25.00 for participants and guests. Please be sure to check box on the entry form.

Only a limited number of tickets are available! Please buy your tickets early and avoid the disappointment of missing this all you can eat pasta feast.

Join Bart Yasso - from Runners World magazine, Kathrine Switzer, John Stanton - founder and president of the Running Room, and Dr. Kate Hays for an informative seminar and question and answer forum. This event is considered one of the best Carbo Load Dinners of any marathon and sells out fast. Please reserve early for this all you can eat pasta feast.
