Marathon

General Information

The Marathon is expected to draw upwards of 2,500 participants in a downhill course that is fast and scenic, starting from Mel Lastman Square in North York and finishing at Ontario Place. This Toronto favourite is one of the fastest courses you will find anywhere and is a great qualifier for the Boston Marathon. Over half of our participants posted Personal Bests in 2013!

This course has been accurately measured and is certified by Athletics Canada as a Boston qualifier. Walkers are not permitted in the Marathon. Click Here for race day information including maps and transportation information.

In-line skates, roller-skates, skateboards, bicycles, strollers and dogs are not permitted on the course.

ONTARIO MASTERS ATHLETICS

The GoodLife Fitness Toronto Marathon has been selected as the Ontario Masters Athletics (OMA) 2014 Marathon Championship, part of the 2014 OMA Road Race Series. In addition to Toronto Marathon age group awards, participating Ontario Masters Athletics members will qualify for OMA award medals. The first three in each age group from 30-34 and up are eligible. Only OMA members qualify for its award category medals. Ontario Masters Athletics is an organization for athletes over 30. Specifics

7:30 AM – START – On Beecroft Road behind Mel Lastman Square south of North York Blvd.

For the safety of all participants, we strongly recommend you do not wear iPods, or similar devices which inhibit your ability to hear surrounding sounds. Marathon participants must be 18 years of age on race day. Walkers are not permitted in the Marathon to minimize traffic congestion and for public safety due to time restrictions set by the City of Toronto. We encourage all participants in the Marathon maintain a 12-minute/mile pace (7.5-minutes/km). Participants may be asked to move on to the sidewalk and obey normal traffic laws if running slower than a 12-minute/mile (7.5-minutes/km) pace. Those of you who can run faster…..please feel free to do so.

Aid Stations & Timing

There will be 21 Aid Stations on the course with Water, Gatorade, Bananas and toilets. Split times will be called at the 1 mile mark. The course will be marked every kilometre, as well as every 5 miles.  All events will be timed using the BibTag timing system. Gels will not be available on the course and it is suggested that you supply your own.

Expo

The GoodLife Fitness Toronto Marathon Expo is FREE and open to the public at the Direct Energy Centre, Exhibition Place, 100 Princes’ Blvd. Hall ‘D”. ALL participants must attend the Expo to pick up their BibTag and performance shirt. The Expo is open on Friday, May 2nd from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and Saturday, May 3rd from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Bib Tag and Shirt

All participants must pick up their BibTag and Karbon performance shirt at the Expo. BibTag and shirts will not be mailed to participants. Shirt sizes are guaranteed for participants who register by February 28th. Double check the size when picking up your shirt. Marathon participants may get an additional shirt from a previous year at the Expo only while supplies last.

In an effort to be greener, the GoodLife Fitness Toronto Marathon will be bagless. Participants are strongly recommended to bring their own bag for their BibTag and shirt pick-up. Bag Check will be available at the Start Line for participants and transported to a secure area at the Finish Line. Please bring your own bag if you wish to check items before the race. Be sure to attach the tag, provided on the bottom of your bib, to your bag for proper identification.

Pickup Location: Direct Energy Centre, Exhibition Place, 100 Princes’ Blvd. Hall “D”
Pickup Dates: Friday, May 2nd from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Saturday, May 3rd from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Confirmation number (if registered online) and bib number are required for BibTag and shirt pick-up. Photo ID may be required at the time of pick-up. Bib numbers will be emailed to each participant on the Thursday prior to the race. Bib numbers will also be posted on the East wall opposite the registration area. Participants may pick up for themselves and up to two additional participants with their proper information.

Only participants traveling from out of town (for the Marathon and Half Marathon only) may pick up their BibTag and shirt on Race Day at Mel Lastman Square from 6:00 am. Look for the POD (white shipping container) located on North York Blvd. near the entrance to the Civic Centre. Please arrive early to ensure you get your BibTag and shirt before the starting gun goes off. 5k participants must pick up their BibTag at the Expo.

Accreditation

The GoodLife Fitness Toronto Marathon is sanctioned by Athletics Canada and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and meets all international standards. Participants can qualify for the Boston Marathon and other accredited international marathons.
