Volunteer descriptions

The descriptions below are a brief overview of required duties.  More information will be provided once you have been assigned a position. On race day, many jobs require an early start, and some will go longer than others. You are asked to arrive at your designated assignment on time as our participants depend on you being there.  If you are able to work multiple days/shifts, let us know.

Please only register once.

Registration: Minimum age 16. Required to work at bib/shirt pick-up on one of two days (Fri/Sat). Indicate preferred day and morning or afternoon shift. From 8:30 to 1:30 or 1:00 to 8:00.

Set-up: Minimum age 12. Assist in setting up and organizing expo, food, registration, medals areas on Friday and Saturday from 9:00 AM to end of day.

Shirt Pick-up: Minimum age 12. Required to work at bib/shirt pick-up on one of two days Fri/Sat). Indicate preferred day and morning or afternoon shift. From 8:30 to 1:30 or 1:00 to 8:00.

Logistics: Minimum age 16. Required over two days to help organize/load course trucks/ and place supplies along the course. From 5:30 AM race day.

Drivers: Minimum age 25. Required to drive cube vans on race day as part of the logistics team. From 5:30 AM race day.

Bus Marshal: Minimum age 16. Required to supervise the loading of shuttle buses. Indicate preferred location. Hilton Hotel (University/Richmond) or Hotel X (Exhibition Place). From 5:30 AM race day.

Bag Check: Minimum age 14. Assist in loading and unloading participants bags. Indicate the area that you prefer. Start Line (Yonge/Sheppard) or Finish Line (Exhibition Place) From 6:00 AM race day.

Start Line Marshal: Minimum age 14. Required to maintain the integrity of the start area on race day.  Marathon/Half Marathon (Yonge/Sheppard). From 6:00 AM race day.

Finish Line Marshal: Minimum Age 16. Required to maintain the integrity of the Finish line chute at Exhibition Place. From 6:00 AM race day.

Security:  Minimum age 18. Required to maintain the integrity of the Start/Finish areas. Indicate your preferred location Marathon/Half Marathon Yonge/Sheppard) or 5k/10k (Exhibition Place).  From 6:00 AM race day.

Information Booth: Minimum age 16. Required to assist participants as needed. Must have excellent knowledge of event. Indicate preferred location Start or Finish Area. From 6:00 AM race day.

Hospitality: Minimum age 16. Required to assist our volunteers on Friday, Saturday and on race day to make sure they are looked after. From 10:00 AM Friday/Saturday, and 6:00 AM on race day.

Volunteer Check-in: Minimum age 16. Required to assist in organizing our volunteers at the Finish Area on race day. From 6:00 AM race day.

Bike Marshals: Minimum age: 16. Required to ride and supervise the course while maintaining the safety and security for participants. Must be a competent and experienced cyclist.  Indicate the area that you would prefer to ride: Start Line, Mid-Town, Rosedale/Distillery, Lakeshore. From 6:30 AM race day.

Course Marshals:  Minimum age 16. Required to assist in keeping the course secure. Will include moving barricades into place and monitoring event until the last runner has passed. Indicate the area that you prefer. Yonge St., Forest Hill, Lakeshore. From 6:30 AM race day.

Food: Minimum age: 12. Required to assist in safely providing food to our participants at the Finish Line. From 6:30 AM race day.

Water Stations: Minimum age 14.  Required to support participants at water/hydration stations on the course. Indicate the preferred station by reviewing the water station location table. From 6:30 AM race day.

Medals: Minimum age 12. Required to sort/distribute event medals to participants at the Finish Line. Day One – required unpacking and sorting, and Day two is race day. From 6:30 AM race day.

Medical Team: Minimum age 20. Required to assist our team on race day. Preferred RN/MD, Physio or Chiropractor, Advanced First Aid, Ski Patrol, must provide credentials. From 6:30 AM race day

Strike Team: Minimum age 14. Required to assist in the event clean-up at the finish area, including packing and loading of equipment onto our trucks. From 11:30 AM to 6:00 PM race day.
